NOSTALGIA IS A WEAPON

Oh dear god, that was a lot of work, but I think I may have this site in a place where I can be happy with it for the time being. Plugin working: check. New layout (which I can’t take credit for, except for having to completely rework the header and do a little hit-or-miss php editing to get rid of unwanted crap): check.  Another day lost to this damn thing: check. There’s still another theme I’m looking into, but I think that one will have to wait till I can have someone else take a look at it (I may just take you up on your offer, Enji). Anyway, I’m relieved to have come to a good stopping point.

Once again, though, I spent so much time screwing around with this that it’s now past time for me to be in bed. I have no idea when the hell I’ll actually write anything substantial. Hopefully by this weekend’s end. Right now, it’s sleepy-time.

Okay, so yes, everything looks different. But it’s mostly just temporary for now, this theme at least (which, while cool, is a little drastic). Had some issues installing a spam-deterring plugin, and as a result I spent all afternoon fucking around with things I know nothing about (read: editing php). Finally just gave up for the night, and now I’m (maybe temporarily) using this theme because it’s compatible with the new plugin.

Anyway, when you leave a comment now you’ll also have to leave the name I’m commonly known by (which, if you’ve ever met me in person, and you all have, will be easy) in the security box.  We’ll see if this cuts down on the crap that’s been flooding this place recently.

Oh, and that whole major update post? Yeah, really was going to do it (I swear!) till I spent five hours messing around trying to fix things. Tomorrow, really.

I haven’t updated, as I promised. Yes, I’m a bad, bad blogger. I accept any and all punishments you feel like handing out. But before that:

I’m getting really fucking sick of this comment spam. I know an easy way to deal with that would be to make all posts private, but I don’t really want to go that route. I was hoping to use a simple captcha plugin to help curb the big dick viagra incest porn comments, but I’ve now installed two, and both crashed the everloving shit out of the blog. I’ve thought about adding permanent filters to block those (and other) words, but then I’m also aware that one of you might leave me a message involving big dicks, incest, or porn (I’m looking at you, Syndromes). So I’m here begging for suggestions. Anyone got a plugin they could recommend, or any other method of dealing with the overwhelming amount of shit that is making it past Akismet?

And, y’know, I promise to make an actual update. Maybe even tomorrow. No, yes, it will be tomorrow. Word.
